Animating a Name

Kia ora, everyone!

We're back in lockdown again, but that's OK!
Today, for my Maths at home, I did some coding. Where I animated my name. I had to add different blocks to code, which was cool. This task challenged me I bit but I got used to it. Towards the end, I didn't even need the tutorial videos to help me out!

This coding activity shows my interests and favourite things.

Check my animation out by playing it down below.

I used Scratch to make this animation. It was VERY fun to do as a Maths task, and I would definitely do it again.
Have you ever used Scratch before? Do you like coding? Have you ever done anything like this before?

Please feel free to leave a comment.

  1. This is very creative Jaimie - I'm impressed to see that you challenged yourself with something new...and by the fact you didn't require the tutorials by the end. Ka pai! The way you have formatted your blog post is superb too. You have selected how to use font effectively, whilst applying excellent spelling and punctuation. Which is your favourite letter in your animation..and why?

Thanks for commenting on my blog. My favourite letter would probably be a tie between the J & the A because the J has cat ears on it (I drew the ears on it), plus it bounces and say 'Meow'. The A, too, because it changes colour and, once again, I customized what it looked like to make it look like a linesman.

  3. Konichiwa Jaimie,
    That’s a really creative animation!
I have used scratch before but not recently.
My favourite part of it was how you spelled out your name on the pitch.
Next you could do a longer animation.

    1. Hi Tayla!
Thanks for commenting on my blog! And, yes, I do LOVE to play football! The position I usually play is Striker, but I like to play other positions, too! Next time, I will try to make the animation a bit longer, like Catalina said, too.

I am so glad that you enjoyed this task. I was hoping someone would choose something from the CSFirst class taskboard. It is great that you were honest in how it challenged you at the start but as you progressed you relied less on the video tutorials. Would it be OK if you shared this in our Maths class Meet next week? Maybe you could make a Rāngi animation? Keep up the great work.

  9. Hi Jaimie
Great effort. I'm so impressed that even though you were challenged to begin with, you kept working on coding and were able to do it without the video tutorial. A new skill mastered and what a great finished product you have created.
I'm very curious about Scratch and will have a look at it.
Keep up the fabulous work and stay safe until we are all back at school.
