My Recipe

 Hey bloggers,

I am back!

During lockdown, the teachers made a slideshow for us to put some family recipes on. They could be simple recipes or just normal ones. I did a recipe for the Scrambled Eggs that our family makes. We make it with different herbs, like parsley and other things, too. Down below is an image of my recipe, too.

Make sure to try my recipe out and let me know what you think about it? Was it easy to understand? Delicious to eat? Let me know what you think!

Retelling a Story: The Seven Sisters of Matariki

Hey bloggers,
I am back!
This week Te Waka Ako have been retelling the story of Matariki.
First, we had to read the book, The Seven Sisters of Matariki.

Then, we did a storyboard of the events that had happened in the story.

After that, we retold the story of Matariki in our own words. Here is my retelling of the story:

I really enjoyed this task and got it finished pretty quickly. If you are free, please take the time to read my story. Have you ever done a writing task where you had to retell a story?

Creative Writing

Hi everyone! I am back!
In Week 7, Te Waka Ako started to do some Creative Writing. Creative Writing is when you can write whatever you want; you can have chapters or no chapters and it can be any type of writing like a narrative or a recount. We also had to choose an image for the story to be based around.

I chose for my story to have chapters and to be a narrative. A narrative is a made-up story; which usually contains fantasy, magical creatures or things that can't happen in reality. My story is about trolls that have a game of football every century to decide who owns the troll land; but something goes wrong in the story that may prevent The Enchanted Saplings from winning.

Post Lockdown Creations Slideshow Take 5!

Hey bloggers!
I am back!
This week, Te Waka Ako have been working on our Post Lockdown Creations Slideshow. This is our 5th time doing the slideshow. I think it is really cool because I have to insert a picture or screenshot of the work I have completed, write what subject it is, add a brief description of the task and write a reflection of the day. Here is my Post Lockdown Creations Slideshow Take 5!

Lockdown Diary 2020

Lockdown Diary 2020

Hi everyone! I am back!'
Over the Covid-19 Lockdown Period, Te Waka Ako worked on a Lockdown Diary. Stephen McCarthy originally came up with the idea of a lockdown diary. We filled in 1 or 2 slides every day in lockdown. There were activities like drawing what you had for diner and write down what it tasted like. You had to write a poem and then go read it to someone. There was one slide where you could write whatever you wanted to write! My favourite slide was the one where you had to write a note to yourself in the future. I liked it because when I am older, I get to look back at it and remember that the note was from 10 year old me. At the end, you had to sum up lockdown for future kids. Have a look at my lockdown diary:

Thank you for reading my blog post and 2020 Lockdown Diary! I hope you enjoyed my diary and blog post. If you have any free time, please leave a comment!

Term 3 Narrative

Cinema to cinema to cinema
Bonjour everybody. I am back!
In Term 3, the senior syndicate wrote some narratives about their holidays. We had to plan our writing. First, we had to plan the setting and the character. Then we had to plan the opening, the problem and the climax. Finally, we had to plan the solution. But, we had to add a twist to our story to make it more exciting and exaggerated. We then had to plan strong vocabulary to use in our story. After that, we had to plan a hook sentence and a title and then we could start writing. Once we were finished writing our narrative, we had to do two stars and a wish with a partner. Two stars and a wish is where you get a partner and they give you feedback on your work. The two stars are what they think you did well and the wish is something they would like you to improve. Nicholas did two stars and a wish for me and I did two stars and a wish for Ayva.
The title I gave my narrative was: Cinema to cinema to cinema.
If you would like to read it, then click on my title below.

I enjoyed writing my narrative. It was really fun. I loved that we had to add a twist to the story. My favourite part from my story is when we keep interrupting the staff member. This didn't actually happen. It was part of my twist...

Personal Response

Hi Bloggers! I am back!

On Friday, the 24th of May (A day after my 10th birthday), the senior syndicate from Waikowhai Primary School marched and protested down Queen St.

We were marching in the Climate Change March. A few days before the march, we made signs. We got to pick a partner and in pairs, we made a design and then got onto the real thing. Anyway, I will blog post about what happened at the march soon.

This is what I am really blogging about today. After the march, we had to do a personal response about it. We had to say three things for each column.
The columns are:

- What you were surprised about
- What you liked
- What you didn't like
- What you would change
- What made you think about
- What you didn't understand

If you would like to check out my personal response, then click here.

I hope you enjoyed my personal response.

Term 1 Narritive Writing

Hi everyone, I am back!
In the past 2 weeks, the Senior Syndicate at Waikowhai Primary School have been writing narratives. Narratives are like a fairy tale. The way that I look at a fairy tale is that it is something you can only create if you use your imagination.
The challenge was that you had to look pick a picture and then you had to write about it and make up character. My picture looked like this:

I hope you enjoyed reading my narrative.
See you next time!
